Teaching:

I am a qualified secondary art teacher with specialisms in mixed media, photography and sensory learning. I have trained across multiple schools from KS3-KS5, SEN and mainstream. I have also completed level 2 certificated in understanding children's mental health and specific learning difficulties. My teaching practice has developed beyond core curriculum delivery to provide more specific support for students with SEND, EAL, and extra pastoral needs. My approach priorities accessibility to the arts, sensory awareness, and low-pressure creative processes that allow all students to engage meaningfully regardless of confidence, artistic ability, language or prior attainment. My teaching is informed by my creative and research practice - I aim to create environments where students feel safe to experiement, make mistakes and communicate their individuality in creative ways.

Year 9 Collage Series - 'Beyond Reality':

Above I have included a set of collages that were made by a group of Year 9 students at a middle school, during a carousel project to encourage artistic outreach to students who have not chosen art-based subjects for GCSE. The students were taught across 6 weeks about Surrealism, and they created their own Zines with information and small creative trails before creating their final collage. Some chose to use athletes, musicians, influencers and even politicians to create their surrealistic collage. Several students did not enjoy art but were able to still connect by adding their own personal likes. These lessons supported confidence and emotional wellbeing, and provided a space for students to engage with lessons in a less-pressured environment and expectations.
