Artist Statement for Exhibition
Devoted research into sensory wellness experiences has resulted in this creative artefact, which focuses on the therapeutic nature of; environment bathing, water bathing and colour bathing. This final masters project stems from extensive research into the wellness industry, health statistics and multi-sensory design. Leading the creative practice to be showcased within a triptych of miniature sensory exhibitions, for the viewer to receive a taste of each wellness experience. To create multi-sensory involvement for the viewer each box contains a series of six images, two sensory objects and one link to a sound to immerse the viewer into the experience. The aim of this research and creative outcome is to invite individuals to explore the possibilities of their senses, to learn and participate in techniques to improve their well being without technology or money. The importance of this research is based on the increasing mental health statistics, our populations weakening connection with nature and the imposing magnitude of the wellness industry. This project begins to tackle how the everyday person can improve their life and combat these issues individually.
